The International Festival of Performances for Children «Gavrosh» was created in 2006, and the Teatrium on Serpukhovka is it’s main organizer.
The Festival is held with the assistance of the Administration of Moscow, the Moscow’s Department of Culture, the Ministry of Culture of the RF and charity organizations, with the participation by embassies and Institutes of Culture of different countries which are located in Moscow.
The contents of the festival differ from other children’s festivals as every year it deals with the theatre of one country. It allows that country to represent its culture, traditions and experience to the fullest extent.
Tereza Durova, the Festival’s Art-Director, said: «We should love children and give them an opportunity to see the best and the most interesting of what adults in all the theatres of the world can do for them».
From the history of the Festival. The Festival «Gavrosh» represented:
- 2007 – French Theatre;
- 2008 – Italian Theatre;
- 2009 – Swedish Theatre;
- 2010 – French Theatre.
An experience of European theatre for children attracts great interest not only from the audience, but from professionals as well. The special program is an important part of the festival. It includes master classes, dramatic readings, exhibition projects.
The Festival organizers put a special emphasis on special projects for physically challenged children. This is a fundamental position of the festival’s ideology, as the theatre is accessible for all.
